Erica Nierth, PhD
Dr. Erica Nierth is currently a member of the Biology faculty at Texas State University – San Marcos. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Biology from Texas Christian University, a master’s degree from the department of Ecology, Evolution and Organismal Biology at Tulane University and her doctoral degree in Biomedical Sciences at Tulane Medical School. She has conducted research on endocrine disrupting chemicals in diverse cellular systems at the Center for Bioenvironmental Research at Tulane University. She has also investigated mechanisms of steroid hormone signaling and environmental chemicals that interact with steroid signaling in the context human cancer and mast cells while conducting post-doctoral research at Tulane Medical School and at the Center for Nuclear Receptors and Cell Signaling at the University of Houston. Dr. Nierth is a devoted educator to students pursuing research and studies in cell biology, serving as faculty mentor for the largest student biology organization on campus and as a member of the pre-health professions committee at Texas State University. Erica has recently joined KJ Scientific as a Scientific Consultant working with Dr. Johanning.
